At Franklin Academy, students must meet Course Credit Requirements and Regents Exam Requirements in order to graduate.  Please 
review the following information and meet with your school counselor if you have any questions.

Course Credit Requirements:
Each student must have 22 COURSE CREDITS in order to graduate. All students must have satisfied the following requirements:
  • 4 English credits
  • 4 Social Studies credits 
  • 3 Math credits
  • 3 Science credits  
  • 1/2 Health credit
  • 1 Art and/or Music credit 
  • 2 Physical Education credits (.5 credit each year of high school)
  • 1 LOTE credit (Unless you are exempt on your IEP)

Regents Exam Requirements (65 or higher):
Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation:
English
Global History
US History
Integrated Algebra
Geometry
Trigonometry
Two of either:
Biology
Earth Science
Chemistry
Physics
Regents Diploma:
English
Global History
US History
One Math Regents (typically Integrated Algebra)
One Science Regents (typically Earth Science or Biology)

​Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) or 504 plans

Students with IEP's and some 504 plans have different requirements for Regents examinations. You can review these guidelines on the New York State Department of Education Graduation Requirements here. It is best to call your counselor to explain to this to you. There are multiple ways students with an IEP or 504 plan can earn their high school diploma. 

Please use this information as a guide when determining what kind of diploma you are working toward, what courses you must have to graduate, and the testing requirements for the two diploma options offered. This information is intended to support you in your academic career, and should be used in conjunction with regular meetings with your school counselor who can keep you up to date on the latest requirements from the state and the school district.
